DAY 1 : Marrakech – Tizi N Tichka Mountain Pass – Ouarzazate
Depart Marrakech at 7:00am for Ouarzazate, traversing the awe-inspiring Tizi n’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. At Ouarzazate visit the stunning Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and have lunch in town. In the afternoon, head towards Skoura to tour the Amredhyle Kasbah. Continue onto the Dades Gorge and Valley, through M'gouna and Boumalne. Have dinner and spend the night in a colorful Berber hotel.
DAY 2 : Tinghir - Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga - Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, journey to Tinghir and the breathtaking Todra Gorge. Explore the gorge on foot, the continue onto Erfoud, lunching in Tinjdad in the heart of its the palm tree grove. Visit the fossil craft manufactories at Efoud, then travel onto Merzouga at Erg Chebbi for an unforgettable desert experience. Have dinner and spend the first night in a hotel at the foot of the dunes.
DAY 3 : Camel Trek And Overnight In Merzouga Camp
Wake bright and early for a camel trek into the dunes to enjoy the sunrise from the highest peaks. Ride a camel back to the hotel to have breakfast and shower. Take the full tour of the desert region in a comfortable, air-conditioned SUV. Sightsee and shop at the oases of Merzouga and Hassilabied, visit the village of Khamlia to hear the hypnotic music of the sub-Saharan Gnawa tribe, the mines at Mifiss, the salt lake Dayet Srji at the Algerian border, and the pockets of Berber nomad communities in the region. Return to the hotel to set out on a camel trek to watch the sunset, then dine and sleep in a nomad camp of tents (bivouac) under the stars deep in the dunes.
DAY 4 : Merzouga Desert – Tafilalet – Tazzarine – Agdez – Ouarzazate
After breakfast in the camp, return on camelback to the hotel to shower. Embark on a tour of the Tafilalet oasis region through the market town of Rissani. Have lunch at Alnif on the way to Tazzarine, N'kob, and the Draa Valley. Circle back to Ouarzazate via the Berber mountain village of Agdez at an altitude of 5000 feet in the Atlas Mountains. Have dinner and spend the night in a cozy mountain hotel.
DAY 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast in the mountains, journey onto the cool and serene Fint Oasis. From the summit of the rocky peaks, gaze over the oasis nestled in the rolling hills. Tour the four small villages in the area--an African Brigadoon--where the locals live entirely on the sustenance of their land. Have lunch and dinner in the mountains, then spend the night at a second snug and intimate mountain hotel. Return to Marrakech after breakfast the next morning.
