DAY 1 : Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges
A more leisurely, circuitous version of the option above, this tour leaves Marrakech at 8:00am headed to the Dades Gorge. Cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 7,500 feet and stop at the charming Berber village of Telouet in the High Atlas Mountains. Continue to Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch in Ouarzazate, then enter the Dades Valley for dinner and a night at a cozy mountain hotel.
DAY 2 : Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert Camel Trek
After breakfast set out from the Dades Valley to the village of Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. Pass through Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, capital of fossil production in the region. Arrive at Merzouga, and after a short rest, meet the camels and camel drivers waiting patiently to lead a 90-minute trek through the dunes. Spend the night in a nomad camp of tents (bivouac) nestled in the heart of the Sahara. Watch the sunset, dine with the Berbers, then sit back and let them cap off the evening with a spectacle of percussion music.
DAY 3 : Merzouga – Rissani – Agdez – Marrakech
After the sun rises, take a camel trek back to Merzouga, then shower and have a hearty Berber breakfast at a hotel overlooking the dunes. Journey back to Marrakech through the winding roads adjoining countless Berber villages, including Alnif, Tazzarine (famous for henna), and N’kob. Again pass through Ouarzazate on the road through the Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech. Arrive in the late evening.
