Day 1 : Marrakech - Ouarzazate

Journey from Marrakech through the breathtaking landscapes of Tizi n’Tichka in the High Atlas Mountains, the highest mountain pass in North Africa at nearly 7,500 feet.

Arrive by mid-morning at Ouarzazate--the "gateway to the desert"--and visit the famous Kasbah (fortified city) of Ait Ben Haddou, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a tour of Ouarzazate (the Berber word for "no noise"), now home to a film studio for its frequent use in movies, from Lawrence of Arabia in 1962 to Gladiator in 2000. Explore the Taourirt Kasbah, a residence of the ancient Pacha of Marrakech. Lunch in town and return to Marrakech by early evening.
